Framing a bay window with curtains and blinds has become an increasingly popular choice. Combining both window coverings allows you to add different colours or patterns to your interior to complement your existing decor, or to create a focal point with bolder drapery. Layering bay window blinds with curtains also provides insulation and increases privacy, making this an ideal combination.
Bay Window Curtains
Full-length lined curtains are an elegant option for bay windows; they look luxurious and also increase the feeling of height in your room.
For exceptional wooden curtain poles, we use Byron & Byron; their Metamorph Bay pole system is the first wooden curtain pole that follows the curve of your bay window. For metal bay window curtain poles, The Bradley Collection is renowned for their range, which can be professionally bent to the exact angle and measurement of your window. We also offer the option of made to measure metal tracks that can be bent on site for a custom-made fit.
If your bay window has a sill, then the curtains can be fitted into the recess to the appropriate length. If you would prefer full-length curtains, a pole can be fitted to the outside of the recess. This also applies when hanging curtains in a bay window with a seat: fitting curtains in front of the recess will allow you to draw the curtains back completely, beautifully framing the window.
Bay Window Blinds
Roman blinds have an elegant simplicity that perfectly complements a larger bay window. Each window panel will showcase the fabric you have chosen, as a Roman blind will hold the fabric very flat. Blackout lined Roman blinds are the perfect choice for a bay window in the bedroom. They have the same insulation qualities as thermal lined blinds, so they help to retain warmth in your room, whilst also keeping out the light for a perfect night’s sleep.
Roller blinds are a practical and stylish option for smaller bay windows. They roll up completely, which will allow the most light into your room, and the compact design of a roller blind means that if you have a smaller window your view won’t be obscured.
Custom-made bay window blinds are also a wonderful option. Often the bay and angle of the window is not a standard size, so custom-made blinds will give you the versatility to choose the fabric and style of blind that will perfectly fit your feature window.
