With the first signs of Autumn beginning to appear, it is the perfect time to take inspiration from the changing season and the new interior design collections for Autumn/Winter 2020.
Sanderson Caspian Prints and Embroideries – Cantaloupe (Cherry/Aster)
Create a bold statement with Sanderson’s Cantaloupe Velvets glorious stylised melons and intricate swirling leaves. The rich colourways of this beautiful fabric are the perfect antidote to the dark winter months. The design is made the focal point of the room by painting the walls in a grounding neutral shade to showcase the subtle tonal movement and striking detail of this incredible design.
Harlequin Mirador Upholstery – Benirras (Slate/Stone/Honey)
Harlequin’s Mirador Upholstery collection features Benirras, a chunky upholstery print with a textured, layered look that brings real warmth to the room. This painted collage effect takes its colours and patterns from the sun-bleached pottery found amongst landscaped Spanish gardens and contrasts perfectly against the richness of the dark wood furniture.
Zoffany Antiquary Collection – Suzani Achieve Embroidery (Antique Bronze)
Meaning needle in Persian, the stunning Suzani design by Zoffany is embroidered on 100% linen cloth with a blend of wool, metallic twisted and viscose yarns. The stylised design of the metallic threads will catch the golden light of Autumn and will look spectacular when lit up at night. This design is suitable for drapes and occasional upholstery.
Sanderson A Celebration of The National Trust – Passion Vine
Sanderson’s collaboration with The National Trust showcases a glorious array of country house style wallpapers and fabrics. The Passion Vine fabric, shown here in drapery, displays intricate stitching to represent the detail of the original hand-drawn design. This stunning embroidery features a cotton/linen base and viscose yarns to give a soft iridescence to this classic floral trail. This design is suited to any season, making it a perfect transitional window dressing.
Mossis & Co. Melsetter Wallpaper Collection – Seasons by May (Saffron)
Seasons by May wallpaper by Morris & Co. is inspired by a set of embroidered panels depicting the seasons in stitch-work. The original work was designed, and likely also created, by May Morris c.1895-1900. Seasons by May has been reinterpreted as wallpaper and features parakeets, stylised roses, tulips, turning stems, leaves and flowers amongst a mirrored trellis. Placed against the dark walls, the metallic ground of the Saffron colourway makes a bold statement without being visually overpowering and modernises a traditional interior.
Cole & Son Seville Collection – Bougainvillea (Rouge, Leaf Green & Cerulean Sky on Charcoal)
As the season’s turn, don’t be afraid to embrace the darker hues of nature. Cole and Son’s Bougainvillea design is a contemporary alternative to the Arts and Crafts-style print. With its soft, water-coloured petals and leaves, Bougainvillea’s inflorescence has a delicate ombré creating movement and life.
When thinking about paint, warm, earthy tones that connect us back to nature are the colours that resonate this season.
Zoffany – Olivine paint and Brocatello wallpaper
Complementary tones for wallpaper and painted woodwork creates a sense of harmony and this earthy natural shade by Zoffany also works well when offset with bolder coloured soft furnishings to develop a feeling of unity in the room.
Sanderson – Owlswick paint
Create the feeling of complete tranquillity with this elegant grey shade with a creamy base from Sanderson. The spectrum of warm neutral tones creates a soothing backdrop and enhances winter light.
